Goodbye for now

Unfortunately these will be the last posts for awhile.

In order to stay employed I will have to transfer over to the east coast.

I was planning on adding several new posts tonight most of which stretch back into Adelaide's sordid past, but it is now 2:30am and the next few days will be hectic.

I had actually found several dozen long forgotten stories, historical documents, people and places (like Magic Mountain RIP). All of these were very hard to find on the net and yet again shows that there is something very wrong when you cannot easily find the not so important and maybe embarrassing details of your city. All of the info is safely stored on my laptop for future use.

I will eventually complete everything. I really don't want this to end up like all of the other Adelaide centric website/blogs etc. that I have discovered trying to find weird Adelaide stories to post that have not been touched in years and are now abandoned.

I have actually found several more opinion pieces on Adelaide whilst I have been trying to put together my own. None of them have the depth that I want to convey. There is a lot wrong with this town (my opinion) if I could point out where it's going wrong maybe I can help in someway.

When I was a kid there was so much more here than what there currently is. It is really sad. Nothing will change here unless criticism is respected, understood and learnt from. The people that defend this city like raving dogs have really only held it back in the dark ages. This town almost needs a Gestapo styled agency to weed these people out and maybe relocate them to the desolate regions near Maralinga where they can't harm Adelaide anymore.

As of right now SA is heading into oblivion. I really mean that as well because the job I have has allowed me to hear about several upcoming blows to SA's economy that will cause a major loss of confidence in the state. Hopefully the info I have is flawed and nothing bad happens.

*Finger's crossed*

Another opinion piece on Adelaide

I am still trying to put together my opinion piece on Adelaide.

This author has done a very good job in conveying the issues facing Adelaide.

Remember the weird kids at school who were always picked on?

Another book recommendation: The Element of Need: Murder and Memory in Adelaide.

This is another book the I will endeavour to find.

I have actually visited several bookstores around Adelaide looking for the books already recommended but I was unsuccessful. I completely forgot the fact they have been decimated by online book sales.

So far I have read a very interesting review of this book. I have included the links below.

The reviewer appears unhappy about the author insinuating that Adelaide's horrific history of child sex abuse can be traced directly to sex-obsessed homosexual murderers. The moment I read that it made me want this book as this is an angle to the City of Corpses I have never considered. If you actually take the time to look into Adelaide's history there are several cases that this theory can be applied to directly.

Obviously making villains out of homosexuals will get you sent to the naughty corner and I suspect this is why I have never actually heard of anyone discussing this angle here in Adelaide.

Movie recommendation: Snowtown

When I saw this movie I was amazed that in some scenes they managed to make the locations look really good as in not decrepit which is how these areas usually look when you are actually visit there.

SA's public housing department in order to avoid grouping these people in "ghetto's" took the step some time ago to place people with serious issue's in and amongst normal conventional housing developments. The result of this is that you could end up next door to a psychopath or sociopath even if you are in a "good area". This is called social inclusion and as you can imagine sometimes there can be disastrous consequences.

The bodies in the barrels murders really put Adelaide on the map as the "City of Corpses: Home of the serial killer".

I  am certain that there will be more serial killers uncovered in Adelaide in the future. I have met so many people here that have struck me as psychotic and over the years I have learnt to trust my gut and literally turn the other way to avoid them. When I first moved here I wasn't used to it and wound up being verbally abused by these types of people quite a few times for simply making eye contact or even just saying hello. You never know with these people where things could go...

Adelaide paedophile attempts suicide in court

I  never realised that there are so many of these paedophile's are actually living in Adelaide until a couple of months ago.

I am not sure if this guy actually qualifies as a paedophile but owning child porno is just as bad in my mind.

It has been a massive problem in the past and appears to be continuing issue here.

Your kids are not even safe when they go to school apparently.

I am not even adding most of the stories about this horrifying issue in the blog and there are already too many on here. This will be the last.

Adelaide: Nuclear waste dump?

I read this article before this blog started and I was fascinated that rather than build a facility in SA's arid (and slightly irradiated) outback to store nuclear materials they decided to essentially leave it in storage facilities in and around Adelaide itself. This is the sort of thing that makes left wing Green types go crazy.

Adelaide Oval's tarpaulin roof damaged by wind

Lets hope this is a one off thing. Because for its half billion (maybe more) price tag you would think the roof would be able to withstand a bit of strong wind. The gusty weather yesterday wasn't even that bad compared the storms a few weeks ago.

Another book recommendation:Fallout: Hedley Marston and the Atomic Bomb Tests in Australia

I have only read the preview available on Google Books but I was struck by the authors description of 1950's Adelaide.

He mentions Adelaideans innate snobbery and class consciousness inherited from the original "free settlers" during the Thomas Playford period.

I think his comments actually still ring true today.

I have read elsewhere that some parts of Adelaide were actually irradiated accidentally when a weather forecast predicting that the mushroom cloud would move towards the east coast exiting Australia over un-populated land between Brisbane and Sydney. But instead the cloud drifted straight over Adelaide. The true details of this story appear to still be a secret even after 50 years.

Boulder blocks Adelaide hill's road

This is the picture used as the background to this blog. I will soon remove the background image and replace it with something a little more boring so that it suits an Adelaide blog.

For me there is something very appropriate about this photo. It kind of says to me old, decrepit city ahead.

Sydney blogger says Adelaide is weird, but good...

I am not sure how well this Sydneysider knows Adelaide but the problems here will not be fixed by promoting the states wine and the annoying Fringe artfest.

My opinion of Adelaide after the first few weeks of being here were way out of sync with the reality of Adelaide's wide-ranging set of problems.

If you stayed a week and sampled the best the city has to offer you would think its pretty good. After a few years you realise this is it you have done everything and are now doing the same shit over and over again with maybe a slight variation to the theme. After a few more years you find yourself just basically saving and planning for interstate and OS sojourns to escape the boring Adelaide winters.

Apparently Portland’s already pretty weird.

Adelaide womans bank robbery attempts

This silly lady tried to rob two banks and walked away with nothing after the bank staff activated the security screens. I have had these screens demonstrated to me during a school excursion to the local bank in primary school. I have always wondered if any retard bank robber has ever been seriously injured by the security screens as they launch out of the banks front counter at the same speed as a car airbag deploying.

Adelaide's Knightrider Mazda

I am thinking that this car has a turbo timer installed allowing it to run on idle for a few minutes after you get out so that the turbo itself can spool down to a low RPM whilst there is still an oil supply from the running engine thus eliminating the possibility of the turbo's bearings running dry and breaking. All it would have taken is for the car to still be in first gear and a dodgy handbrake to take off.

Adelaide parents starve their 4 year old

Adelaide's schools sex scandal

If you lived in SA during 2013 one thing you will have heard is that there is a lot of horrible stuff going on in the schools here. It doesn't seem to matter if the school is public or private (which matters to snooty Adelaideans) there seems to be a paedophile presence there causing children to experience nightmarish episodes of creepy sexual advances and or rape. Why the hell are there so many paedophiles in Adelaide? I am completely dumbfounded by this whole thing. Disgusting.

One story that struck me recently was of a young man falsely accused of accessing porno via his schools internet connection. It turned out that it was actually his teacher using his internet login details to access the porno. After the guy in the story dropped out of school and apparently had his school years ruined he received $30,000 in hush money from the state government's education department. But as stated in the story all he wanted was an apology from the people that had contributed to his distress. I hope he eventually gets one.

To me this is another example of arrogant Adelaide people, I bet the people that made things hard for this guy probably had their self-righteous noses up in the air whilst doing it.

I have added the links to this story and a few from the SA Education Departments sex abuse scandal (there would be hundreds by now).

The student who was offered $30,000 after being wrongly accused looking at porn at school.

Adelaide's junk yard homes

I am in two minds about the people who live in these junk yard properties. I just so happen to have one of these on my street. Their front yard is completely covered in junk, long grass and "skeleton structures" like a shed frame without any panels attached. The skeletons might look to someone driving through like they are still being built but they have been there for more than 5 years. I also used to have a friend of a friend who liked to collect junk to scrap. If I ever needed cables etc for anything I could get them from him for free. Very handy. One time I was there he showed me a plasma TV that appeared maybe 1-2 years old. For some reason the only way it would work if the back panel was removed and the circuit board inside pressed against the wall. It probably only needed minor repairs to work properly and be worth around $5-600 at a pawn shop. So for me going to this guys house was like being put into Macguyer mode trying to fix things. It was almost therapeutic trying to work out how to fix things whilst having a few beers with mates.

Adelaide car hoons to get cars crushed (again)

I am all for people enjoying their cars and if they can do illegal stuff without anyone noticing or getting hurt I wouldn't look down on them. But there are other lowlifes who will do burnouts up and down your street at 4am waking anyone who can still hear without needing hearing aids. I really hope the cops target the right sort of dickheads with these anti-hoon laws. Nothing is worse to a hoon than having their prized possession crushed or sold by the cops if the car is valuable. V8 engines stolen from Holden's Adelaide factory

This story is quite old but with Holden's current situation and fears the factory will close sometime soon makes it interesting.

Police have discovered that the V8's are being stolen at the factory in Elizabeth and then showing up for sale on places like Ebay. An estimate from The Advertiser indicates that $2.5 million worth of engines and transmission have gone missing. Not good for a factory facing closure.

9 year old girl sets fire to Adelaide store then skips away

I know what she did was bad but there is something about this story that makes me smile.

A little girl (9) sets fire to some cheaply made items at a discount store with a cigarette lighter and then skips away like any other young girl enjoying their childhood. Classic.

In total $100,000 in damage although it should be pointed out this was mostly water damage due to the sprinkler system doing its thing.

Water damage at the Ingle Farm Shopping Center reportedly cost about $100,000.

Police dog stabbed in Adelaide

If you live in SA you have probably heard of Koda the police dog.

Over the last 6 months or so he has helped police capture and arrest Adelaide's lowlifes.

Unfortunately last night he was stabbed by one of these lowlifes, right in the chest.

He is currently in a stable condition. Time will tell if he returns to duty.

Adelaide police dog Koda has made another arrest, with the apprehension of a suspect after a wild chase.

Photo: Police Dog Koda is now in a stable condition after being stabbed twice this morning at Elizabeth Vale. He is pictured here recovering after surgery. Thanks everyone for your concern and best wishes.

A man has been arrested and charged with numerous offences following several incidents at Elizabeth Vale this morning where a police dog was stabbed.

Police dog Koda a German Shepherd, was rushed to a nearby Vet by his handler and has since undergone emergency surgery and is now in a stable condition. The 30 year-old man from no fixed place, has been charged with attempt aggravated robbery, four counts of theft, aggravated serious criminal trespass after he broke into two homes, aggravated assault police, property damage and injure animal.
